China Glaze The Giver Collection

Today I have a quick post. China Glaze Boundary of Memory is a gorgeous micro glitter packed with copper, black and gold glitters. It was released in the limited edition The Giver collection. It's fully dense so you can get this opaque in 2 easy coats. China glaze does the best micro glitters! Top coat is definitely a must with this one as gritty glitter eats it up.

This polish is limited edition so I recommend you picking it up quickly. I purchased mine at Sally's Beauty.

OPI Gwen Stefani 18k Gold Flake Top Coat - Don't Speak

Happy Friday! Today I have a swatch from OPI's newest 18k gold top coat, Don't Speak. This was just released as part of the holiday collection from Gwen Stefani. The collection is jam packed with 18 shades inspired by Gwen's edgy, sophisticated style.

This is the only polish I've purchased so far from the holiday 2014 collection. When I saw it I knew I had to have it! The Man With The Golden Gun from the James Bond collection is my favorite polish of all time (yes strong statement I know!). Both polishes are very similar except TMWTGG is a flake top only. Don't Speak is slightly different as it has a gold shimmer to it along with smaller gold flakes. Don't Speak slightly changes the color of the polish due to its shimmer so it would probably look best over darker colors.

In the photo below I layered just one coat over OPI I Sing In Color.

Don't Speak is much easier to work with than TMWTGG. One coat goes a long way on the nail. It's no surprise I love this polish too. I do prefer TMWTGG because of the larger flakes and it is truly a clear base and doesn't alter the color of the underlying polish as this one does.

I'm not sure when this will be available in stores. I purchased mine on eBay for $24.50. If you missed out on TMWTGG I would highly recommend picking this up ASAP. I'm sure this will be limited edition and sold out quickly. I hope you all have a great weekend!

Essie Haute In The Heat - Summer 2014

Better late than never right? I know the summer is now at an end, but today I want to share swatches of Essie's Summer collection, Haute In The Heat.

I actually have been holding on to this entire collection all summer. When I first saw the colors, they didn't scream summer to me. They looked more appropriate for Autumn. Another reason I held off on swatching these was due to my love/hate relationship with Essie. Lately their colors have been great, but the inconsistency of the formulas were a huge turn off.  I actually told myself I wouldn't purchase anymore Essie but of course the addict in me wouldn't allow that.

Much to my amaze, ALL of the formulas in this line were phenomenal! Check out each description after the jump.

Strut Your Stuff is a medium blue creme. Shown here is 2 coats with no top coat. I loved this color, but nothing really unique. Also this one stained a little so I would recommend a good base coat.

Haute In The Heat is a pink/red cream. This one is the namesake of the collection and turned out to be my favorite. It was so creamy and squishy, love!!! Shown here is 2 coats and no top coat.

Roarrrange is an orange cream. Again nothing too unique but it had a great formula and I loved the color. Shown here is 2 coats.

Fierce, No Fear is your typical neutral brown. This is such a staple color. I love to wear colors like this for business trips or when I go to the office. Shown here again in 2 coats with no top coat.

Urban Jungle is an off white cream. This is the only one which needed 3 coats on some nails due to bald spots.

Lastly is Ruffles & Feathers, a green creme. I loved his color but it did stain a little bit also. Shown here is 2 coats.

My picks from this collection are Haute In The Heat and Ruffles & Feathers.  I'm all of these are available at many drugstores and retail for $9 per bottle.

Wet N Wild Matte Limited Collection - Fall 2014

Happy Monday! I know sometimes Mondays can be a drag but I look at it as another day closer to Friday :)

Today I have a few polishes from the Wet N Wild limited edition released for Fall 2014. All of  these have a matte finish, meaning they have no gloss or shine and dry flat. Of course you can apply a top coat for a glossy finish if you prefer, but for review purposes I did not add top coat. Plus I don't mind a matte finish. I picked up four of the six from the collection, leaving the red and the blue behind. I really wanted the blue one but unfortunately it was out of stock.

For the most part I used 2 coats on each with no top coat. All the polishes from this particular line, the Megalast, have a pro wide brush which I love. It is kind of short but the width allows for minimal brush strokes which is perfect for my particular nail beds. Check out a description after the jump!

Careful, It's Vine-tage is a plum like purple.

Distressed To Impress is a neutral brown. I love this shade and it's one of my favorites from the collection.

LAC - My Mani is an off white matte. This is the only polish which some nails required 3 coats.

Lastly is So Berry On Trend which is a cranberry matte. This is my favorite from the collection.

Overall I really like all of the polishes from this line. The Megalast collection is probably the best bang for your buck found at the drug store. The formulas are good and the brushes are flat and wide. I purchased these at Walgreens for $1.99 each.

Liquid Sky Lacquer Fall Holo Collection - 2014

Hi lacquer lovers!  This morning I woke up with one goal: post a blog!

The past 6 months has truly been a life changing experience. I'll spare the in depth detail, but basically my family picked up and left our lives behind for now what seems like silly reasons. You know that saying, the grass is  greener on the other side? Fortunately my career allows many opportunities and choices.  Sometimes with having too many choices we become restless and indecisive, not being happy with what you got, always looking for the next big thing. Well I'm happy to say we've learned a huge lesson. So in 2 weeks we will be traveling back to Florida where we built a home, for good.

So that explains my absence here. This summer was crazy. I hope to be getting back to a regular routine soon. Now onto the polish :)

Late last week I received the opportunity to swatch Liquid Sky Lacquer's new Fall 2014 holo collection. It consists of 5 fall colored themed polishes that have a holographic finish. Each polish shown will have 2 coats and no top coat. If a top coat is used it does NOT take away the holo effect at all. The consistency of all are exactly the same, not too thick or thin and super easy to work with. I especially love the wide brush which allows application to go on with minimal brush strokes. Check out each individual polish after the jump!

Toasted Pumpernickel is a brown light holo. I don't usually like dark colors but all of the darks from this collection were my favorites.

It's Wine O'clock Somewhere is a purple wine holo. I love the name of this one! Another favorite of mine from the collection.

Autumn Equinox is a gorgeous blue holo. Again, another surprise favorite for me!

Juniper Berries is a sage holo. This polish is very unique to my collection in a holo finish. I know I have nothing like this.

Lastly is Let's Take A Hayride which is a rust orange holo. This polish screams Autumn. It definitely is reminiscent of leaves changing colors, pumpkin or sweet potato pie and Halloween.

I did a gradient mani using my 3 favorites from the collection, Autumn Equinox, Toasted Pumpernickel and It's Wine O'clock Somewhere.

All of these polishes are available now at liquidskylacquer and retail for $12 each.
