Zoya summer 2015 - Island Fun swatches & review

Happy Sunday! Today I have half of Zoya's summer 2015 collection to share with you, Island Fun. This collection consists of 6 creme polishes. Creme polishes are by far my favorite finish and Zoya knows how to do a creme very well. Check out a description of each after the collage.

Demetria is a red tomato creme. The formula was great, only needing 2 coats. It dried very shiny and no top coat was used for my photo below.

Talia is a bluish green creme. This color unfortunately stained my nails after only wearing it for a few minutes :(  This along with Serenity from the collection remind me of Chanel's summer 2015 polishes. The formula was excellent and nearly opaque in 1 coat. I did use 2 however for the photo below.

Serenity is a beautiful purple creme. I loved this one!!! I don't have any color like this in my collection so was happy to add it. It was opaque in just 2 coats and dried very shiny.

Nana is a berry creme. This was my favorite from the collection. The formula was smooth as ever and simply amazing. I used 2 coats and no top coat for the photo below.

Jace is a murky green creme. It was very sheer on the first coat but fully opaque in just 2 coats. This one reminds me of Tilda from last summers collection. If you have Tilda I don't think you'll need both. Again, another fabulous formula and dried super shiny.

Cecelia is a teal creme. Sadly this was another one that stained but the formula was the same, smooth and only needing 2 coats.

Overall I loved this collection. The formula was consistent across the board, self leveling and very creamy. I purchased this set on Zoya's website and they retail for $9 each.

Different Dimension 80's Baby All Gown Up Swatches and Review

Today's collection describes me to the T! As soon as I saw these bright neons they reminded me of the late 80s. As a little girl I always loved playing with polish, specifically neons in the summer time. I immediately grabbed a few from this indie maker. Check out a description of each polish after the collage below.

Tubular 2.0 is a neon orange with a scattered holo effect. I used two coats plus top coat for the photo below. The formula on this one was pretty decent and it was my second favorite from my picks.

Totally 2.0 is a yellow green with scattered holo and shimmer. This polish....is so pretty in the bottle but a pain to work with. It took 3 coats, some needing 3. It did not self level either. This along with all the polishes dried matte so you'll need a shiny top coat. I wanted to love this polish but sadly the formula was a big turn off.

Whatever 2.0 is a purple neon holo shimmery polish. This too did not self level and took 2 coats for full opacity. I usually love purples but this one was just meh. The formula was a bit thick, but not too difficult to work with as Totally 2.0.

Saving the best for last, Homeboy 2.0 is a blue holo with added shimmer. The maker describes this as a neon and it's kind of in the grey area for me. It does dry matte but it really isn't a neon in my opinion. Let's face it, have you ever really seen a neon blue polish? Anywho, this was hands down my favorite from my picks. The formula was amazing, only needing two coats.

Pear Nova Summer Duo 2015

Hey polished lovers! Today I have a very untraditional post on one of my favorite indie polish brands, Pear Nova.

In the past I have reviewed some of the most fabulous creme polishes I ever tried in life from this brand. So when I initially saw this duo I was a bit taken aback. Pear Nova has released a summer duo, consisting of two metallics. Check out a description of each after the collage.

Interstellar is a metallic silver. I used 3 thin coats for the photo below. If you have ever tried a metallic, you know how visible the brush strokes can be at times. However I found by applying thinner coats this one didn't show the strokes as much as other brands I've tried. The formula was great on this one as well, not too thick or thin and easily leveling out.

Space Suit Spray Tan is a gold metallic with very fine gold glitters throughout. This polish was so difficult to photograph. I think it's absolutely stunning on medium to dark skin as mine. I actually wore this polish for 4 whole days which was a surprise. It gives you a very elegant look and this would easily be my go to polish for the office. The formula was a bit thick, but not too difficult to work with. I used 2 coats for the photo below.

Orly Sugar High Collection Swatches & Review

Hey guys. Today I have Orly's latest collection, Sugar High. Check out a description of each polish below the jump!

Cake Pop is a white pink creme. It took 2 coats for full opacity. I loved this color on my skin tone.

Candy Shop is a mauve creme. The formula was a great.  It took 2 coats for full opacity. Overall though this color was not very unique. I have so many colors like this in my collection.

Frosting is a white creme shimmer. I didn't think I'd like this one too much but once I applied it on the nail it was real good. Another 2 coater for full opacity.

Key Lime Twist is a lime green creme. OMG OMG!! This was a stunner. The formula was phenomenal only needing 2 coats. No white base needed here either. This is clearly the stand out of the collection.

Plum Sugar is a plum creme. The formula on this was very thin and runny. I recommend very thin coats to prevent it bleeding your cuticles, but overall it was not difficult to work with. Nothing really screamed spring about this collection but I did like how it looked on my shorter nails.

Lastly is Sweet Dreams, a grey with pink/purple shimmer. This took just 2 coats to for opacity. The formula was great.

I enjoyed this collection with Cake Pop, Key Lime Twist and Sweet Dreams being my top 3. I picked the collection up at Sally Beauty. I've also seen them on etailers like Transdesign.com.

Polish My Life All Things Vintage Spring Collection Swatches & Review

Happy St. Patricks Day! Today I have a new collection from Polish My Life to share with you. Polish My Life is an indie brand notorius for awesome cremes. If you are a fan of creme polishes I highly recommend this brand!

The collection is inspired by colors from time before 1990. It consists of seven cremes which some have a hint of shimmer that is barely noticeable on the nail. The formulas are some of the best creme polishes I've tried. I'll be saying that a lot in this post. Check out a description and photo of each below.

Coral Fedora is a bright coral creme. The formula was great, a little streaky on one coat and some fingers required 3 coats for opacity. I found it evening out nicely depending on your application.

1950s Mint 'Fridge is a mint green creme. Fabulous formula and it only needed 2 coats.

Purple Flower Power is described as an electric purple creme. I usually love colors like this in the bottle but they never work well with my skin tone, washing me out. But this baby had the perfect formula that fit to my liking. Two easy coats with no topcoat is shown below.

1970s Sienna Sofa is a brown creme. This color reminds me of the 1970s courdoroy bell bottoms and fringe vests from clips seen from Soul Train...back in the day!  The formula was great, 2 coats with no top coat.

Springtime Blues is a vibrant blue creme. I swatched this one last because I was scared it would stain. I also made sure to keep it on for a full day (that's considered somewhat average nail color wear for me) and still found removal easy with no staining. With all that said I loved this one as well and it took 2 coats for opacity.

Retro Green Scene is a moss green creme. Another amazing formula. I used 2 coats with no top coat.

Strawberry Whip & Chill is described as a soft, yet deep creme. The formula again was great just like the whole collection. I used 2 coats with no top coat.

Overall this collection is sick!! Each and every shade has basically the same formula, very smooth, creamy and self leveling. You can feel the quality in each brushstroke. And the colors pop! That combination is a killer you can't help to fall in love with. I mentioned earlier most of them have a subtle shimmer seen in the bottle but not on the nail which is ok with me. I definitely will be gravitating towards these all Spring. My favorites are all of them!

Wet N Wild Silver Lake Limited Edition Spring 2015 Swatches & Review

A couple weeks ago I went to Walgreens to browse the latest Spring collections. To my lovely surprise I spotted these beauties. The Wet N Wild Silver Lake collection consists of 6 very springy pastel shades. If you aren't familiar with this line it's from the mega last line which are very inexpensive at your local drugstore or dollar store. The brush is flat and wide which works very well with my nail bed.

This collection is limited edition so I recommend grabbing them quickly. I'm a sucker for pastels and this collection did not disappoint. Check out a description of each polish below.

Reject The Mainstream is a lilac creme.  The formula was phenomenal and I used 2 coats.

Wear Skinny Jeans is a baby blue creme.  In the bottle you can see a hint of shimmer which does not translate to the nail. I used 2 easy coats. This is very reminiscent of Essie Bikini So Teeny.

Tree Hugger is a pastel green creme. Another amazing bottle of perfection. I used 2 easy coats.

Stream Of Consciousness is a sheer light pink shimmer. The formulas was ok but it took 3 coats as shown here (an extra coat wouldn't have hurt). When I first looked at the collection this is the one I thought that didn't belong. After swatching it I see where they were going with this one, almost like a palette  cleanser.

Warm Filter is a coral creme. The formulas was great and took 2 coats for opacity.

A Latte Love is a nude creme. Outstanding! I loved the name on this one too. The formula was another stunner, needing only 2 coats.

This collection is a must for pastel lovers. These $1.99 polishes easily match to salon brands as far as formula and consistency. They are so creamy, self leveling and overall the best bang for your buck.

Hurry up and check out your local Walgreens before these are no longer available! My favorites are all of them and I'm sure they will be my go to polishes for this Spring.

KB Shimmer Spring 2015

I'm on vacation from work this week. I decided to take a spring break and get some things around the house done. So far I've planted some beautiful flowers in my front lawn and now I'm posting so I would say it's been a pretty eventful spring break so far.

I purchased a few polishes from KB Shimmer's latest spring collection which were all the holos. Today I have four to share. As usual all of them had a phenomenal formula and required only 2 coats. This is one if my favorite indie brands I have tried. Check out a description of each after the jump n

Blush Money is a peachy rose linear holo. It looks more scattered indoors and the holo on this one was least visible of the 4.

Ins and Sprouts is described by KB Shimmer as a pale citron linear green, like a new bud popping through the soil. This one was very strong as you can see in the photo.

Blue-d Lines is a gorgeous aquamarine blue linear holographic. There's some pretty serious holo effect going on in this polish, probably being the strongest of the collection.

Thistle-be The Day is a lilac Purple linear holo. Another strong holo with a great formula!

I knew I wouldn't be disappointed with this collection. I usually love all things KB Shimmer. These polishes are all available at KBShimmer.com and retail for $8.75 each.
